The NPLD Network: Learning from European Partners

Within the international work of Soziolinguistika Klusterra, participation in the Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity (NPLD) is not merely an institutional presence; it is a space for continuous learning and contribution. One of the main examples of this is the NPLD–Coppieters Campus, held annually as a meeting point for addressing strategic discussions on minority languages.

In recent years, the NPLD–Coppieters Campus has addressed contemporary challenges related to the revitalization of minority languages in an applied way. Thus, the 2023 edition held in Helsinki (Managing Languages in the Field of Health & Social Care in Multilingual Communities) focused on language management in the fields of health and social services; in 2024, in Barcelona (Digitalisation, Artificial Intelligence and Languages: Overview and Opportunities), the focus was on the impacts and opportunities of digitalization and artificial intelligence for languages; and in 2025, in Friesland (Audiovisual Production in Minority Languages), the role of audiovisual production in the revitalization of minority languages was explored. The Campus has become established as a strategic space for responding to the current challenges faced by language communities, addressing these issues from the experiences of participants and providing an applied perspective.

Soziolinguistika Klusterra has actively participated in these campuses, both by sharing its own experience and by learning from the contributions of other communities. In this way, the Basque case has become part of the international dialogue, while also enabling the incorporation of trends and discourses from other contexts into the Basque Country.
