From September 23 to 26, 2026, the Basque Country will host the International Congress of Revitalizing Minority Language Communities, under the motto “The world emerging from languages.” Over four days, experts, activists, and artists from around the world will gather across Bilbao, Irun, and Hendaia, placing at the center of the congress the knowledge and experiences collected during the previous two phases—diagnosis and socialization. The program will combine a wide range of activities, including lectures, round tables, workshops, and artistic-cultural events.
Given the challenges involved in organizing the International Congress, the core team of the BIHAR project has been working on it since 2025. At present, they are developing the contributions made by the International Advisory Board, with the aim of finalizing and structuring the congress program, which will be presented on May 12 at a press conference in the Northern Basque Country.
